Northumbria Police uncover cannabis farm worth more than £1million in Newcastle warehouse

A CANNABIS farm the size of a football pitch has been uncovered by police who have revealed it has an estimated street value of more than £1 million. The drugs factory was uncovered by Northumbria Police officers on the Brunswick Industrial Estate in Newcastle on Thursday where nearly 1,500 plants were being grown and cultivated over two floors. Police said they had been tipped off to the huge farm by electricity contractors who had responded to an outage on the industrial estate. Officers were immediately deployed to investigate and promptly found a huge industrial unit had been converted in to a make-shift drugs operation.

Newcastle: Police rescue two people threatening to jump in Tyne

The High Level Bridge in Newcastle TWO people who threatened to jump in the River Tyne within minutes of each other have been rescued by police. Northumbria Police have called on communities to look out for one another after the rescue operations on Tuesday afternoon. Response officers had received a call at 3pm with concern for a man who had been threatening to harm himself. Inquiries led police to the Quayside in Newcastle where the 26-year-old man was spotted entering the water near to the High Level Bridge at about 4.30pm. Thanks to the teamwork of officers on the ground, and the Force’s Marine Unit in the water, the man was brought to safety.
