Last year, Orange County canceled in-person graduations at all 20 of its high schools because of the coronavirus pandemic.Superintendent Barbara Jenkins announced there would be in-person graduations for the 2021 school year. We are quite encouraged that we can have all our graduation ceremonies all in-person with social distancing and with face masks at the (Amway Center), Jenkins said.The ceremonies will be held in-person at the Amway Center. Seniors at Edgewater High were surprised and thrilled at the news. We don t want to have it behind a screen or on a presentation but with our moms and stuff like that, Keshan Swain said. OCPS wants all its school employees vaccinated. But district leaders said as more students are urged to return to campus, and more teachers must follow suit, the state, at least, should make a priority those who are older and have health conditions that make COVID-19 especially risky for them.
