Singapore started vaccinating its citizens on Dec 30, 2020 and President Jodo Widodo kicked off Indonesia’s mass vaccination drive on Jan 13, 2021 with a plan to vaccinate 181.5 million of its people by March next year.
Malaysians instead are left wondering when it will be their turn to be vaccinated. We are still waiting for the government to unveil the country’s vaccination plan.
Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin in December said that the government’s Covid-19 Vaccine Supplies Access Guarantee Special Committee (JKJAV) which he co-chairs, will table the country’s national vaccination programme to the cabinet in early January 2021.
PETALING JAYA: Front line workers, senior citizens and people with chronic illnesses will be prioritised for the Covid-19 vaccinations, the first delivery of which is on track to be received before the end of February 2021, says Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin

The delivery of our orders with other manufacturers will also be staggered, he wrote in his blog, explaining that the delivery is staggered based on a quarterly schedule.
Based on this delivery schedule, the vaccination priority list has been mapped out, with the first objective being to protect those who are most vulnerable.

Eco World drops merger plan with UEM Sunrise
ECO World Development Bhd on Wednesday abandoned merger talks with UEM Sunrise Bhd, as its chairman Tan Sri Liew Kee Sin said the developer is seeking to pursue its own business plan.
He also cited the current challenging market condition and the re-implementation of the movement control order (MCO) as reasons for Eco World to continue on its own.
“The cessation of talks on the proposed merger will enable EcoWorld Malaysia to actively pursue other corporate proposals that may be more complementary to our present growth plans and strategies, ” Liew said.
The company, he said, remained open to the possibility of future collaborations with UEM Sunrise, should another opportunity arises.
