PETALING JAYA, May 20 Shopee where you can buy T-shirts and many things, but not vaccines.
The message was spelt out loud and clear by Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin yesterday while reminding Malaysians that the process of buying Covid-19 vaccines is nowhere near as easy as adding an item into your online shopping cart.
“This isn’t buying a T-shirt from Shopee. This is a vaccine, a highly regulated product,” he said.

KUALA LUMPUR, May 25 The National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) today denied that it was slow with the evaluation process for complete Covid-19 vaccine applications as alleged by the Opposition.
The government agency said the regular review period taken to evaluate Covid-19 vaccine applications has been shortened to 120 days now, nearly half the 245 working days it took previously.
PETALING JAYA: The businessman who claimed that he wanted to purchase two million Sinovac doses for Penang never contacted Pharmaniaga Bhd, the exclusive distributor of the Sinovac Covid-19 vaccine in Malaysia.
“They never contacted us and we also did not contact them, ” said Pharmaniaga Berhad managing director Datuk Zulkarnain Md Eusope.
He said this when he was asked by reporters about Yong Chee Kong, who had been in the news over an “offer” to donate two million doses of Sinovac vaccine to Penang.
Zulkarnian was asked if Yong and the company he purportedly represented – Xintai Development Enterprise Ltd – had contacted them for the purchase of vaccines.

KUALA LUMPUR, May 24 Pharmaniaga Bhd has revealed that the Sabah businessman who claimed that he wanted to purchase two million doses of the Sinovac Covid-19 vaccine for Penang never contacted the company.
Pharmaniaga Bhd is the exclusive distributor of the Sinovac Covid-19 vaccine in Malaysia.
According to a
Star Online report, its managing director Datuk Zulkarnain Md Eusope said that the company also had not reached out to the businessman.
