As business slowly returns to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a new report shows that the country’s business leaders trust in the nation’s ability to innovate, with advances in healthcare leading the way.
According to the 2020 GE Global Innovation Barometer, UAE executives have ranked the GCC country as a global leader in creating an “innovation-conducive environment”, with 79% of those surveyed stating that healthcare outperformed all other sectors with respect to innovation progress, setting “a great example for others to follow on speeding up innovation”. Meanwhile, 85% cited innovation’s vital role in protecting people’s health and well-being.

GE’s Global Innovation Barometer, which surveyed 3,400 business executives across 22 countries, including the UAE, conducted two separate studies, the second of which was to understand changes in global sentiment as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

More than two-thirds of UAE business leaders say Artificial Intelligence-led innovations will be even more important to their companies in a post-Covid era, according to General Electric.
More than three-quarters of UAE executives expect AI will improve the remote work experience for employees, allowing more people to work from home and focus on more high-level productive tasks, according to the 2020 GE Global Innovation Barometer survey released on Wednesday.
Nearly 40 per cent said AI will be an indispensable tool in the fight against Covid-19 and possible future pandemics, while 38 per cent said AI will reduce costs, giving employees more job security.
