Macomb County Clerk-elect Anthony Forlini has hired a familiar face and trusted name in the Clerk s Office as his chief deputy.
Kathy Smith, who served as acting clerk for about eight months in 2018, will be Forliniâs top deputy and oversee the court section when Forlini takes office Jan. 1. Republican Forlini defeating current Clerk Fred Miller, a Democrat, in the November election.
Forlini said Wednesday that Smith was a natural choice not only due to her wealth of experience but because she has the respect of Clerkâs Office employees, of which there are about 90.

âI consider here to be a talented person who is not only talented but has the judgesâ and employeesâ respect,â Forlini said. âThat is important and important to me because I want to have a business-like atmosphere and things to run efficiently.â
