WINONA, Minn. (WKBT) A grant from the John and Margaret Cross Memorial Fund will allow the Catholic Charities Drop-In Day Center to extend its hours, according to the Winona Community Foundation. The co-fund advisors, Kevin Cross and Carolyn Cross deMatta, directed a $21,000 grant to the day center, which gives those who struggle with homelessness a warm, safe place to stay during the day. The shelter’s hours are now 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., seven days a week through March 31.

Winona Community Foundation donates COVID-19 relief to Catholic Charities December 10, 2020 3:43 PM Site staff Updated: WINONA, Minn. (WKBT) The Winona Community Foundation allocated $34,000 from its COVID-19 Relief Fund to the Catholic Charities Drop-in Day Center in Winona. Catholic Charities of Southern Minnesota opened the center to complement the existing overnight warming center and provide internet and computer access for local individuals. It asked the community foundation for monetary support to help those individuals. This grant will support staffing and basic supplies for the center which will be open from noon to 7 p.m. Monday-Friday until March 31 at 79 W. Third Street. The day center provides visitors with a warm, safe space, along with food and technology access.
