This research in the Sun’s flow of high-speed wind reveals the importance of relatively-small “plumelet” features in explaining the disturbances forming in the solar wind.

Francis Galton was a Victorian scientist with an interest in social Darwinism. It may have been his views on breeding that moved him to attend the West of England Fat Stock and Poultry Exhibition in 1906. The show featured a weight-judging competition: People were asked to guess what a particular ox would weigh after it had been slaughtered and dressed. Galton published an account of the contest ( Vox Populi ) in the journal Nature. About 800 people took part. The median of all their guesses was 1,207 pounds, just 0.8 percent off the true weight. This surprised Galton because, as he said, The average competitor was probably as well fitted for making a just estimate of the dressed weight of the ox as an average voter is of judging the merits of most political issues. The voice of the people was wiser than Galton had been inclined to think.

Catholic professors mostly silent on how bishops should handle Biden s support for abortion

Those who did respond criticized Biden for supporting abortion Theology chairs and professors at Catholic universities are largely silent about how bishops and other religious leaders should approach Joe Biden’s presidency, particularly when it conflicts with doctrine on issues such as abortion. The College Fix reached out to 14 professors for their thoughts on how the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and Catholic leaders should engage with Biden’s actions. The USCCB represents American Catholics and often issues directives and statements on political issues. However, only two professors offered comments on Biden. The bishops’ organization did not respond to three emailed requests for comment in the past month from
