Updated: 5:05 PM EDT May 12, 2021 All churches in the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh may be open at 100% seating capacity starting May 31, Bishop David Zubik said Wednesday.Masks are still required. Priests, deacons, readers and cantors may remove masks when speaking or singing while maintaining distance from others.Zubik encouraged pastors to keep an area of pews marked for socially distanced seating.The announcement comes as Pennsylvania will lift all COVID-19 mitigation orders, except the masking order, effective May 31.
