Lincoln Alexander When Lincoln Alexander died on Oct. 19, 2012, he was honoured with a state funeral.  He deserved nothing less.  As Canada’s first Black Member of Parliament, a former Lieutenant-Governor of Ontario, and a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force, Alexander dedicated his life to his country.  Alexander was born on Jan. 21, 1922 in Toronto to Lincoln MacCauley Alexander Sr. and Mae Rose Royale. His mother was born in Jamaica, and his father was from St. Vincent and the Grenadines. They met in Canada.  Alexander ‘s father was a sleeping car porter for the Canadian Pacific Railway and his mother was a maid. 

SJN: Jewish Disability Awareness, Acceptance and Inclusion Month

For the third year in a row, Federation CJA is partnering with local organizations under the umbrella of Jewish Disability Awareness, Acceptance and Inclusion Month (JDAIM). JDAIM 2021 will be observed by more organizations than ever before, uniting Jewish communities across North America. This year, they will be offering exciting virtual events along with access to a wide variety of virtual programs and resources presented by an entity called Community Without Walls. Over a dozen Montreal community organizations will participate in the month-long series of events designed to raise awareness and foster acceptance and inclusion of people living with disabilities, their families, and loved ones. Federation CJA’s partnership events include ones that educate and empower children, young adults, and young families to learn more about inclusivity.

According to local media, two passengers in another car shouted, “F ing Jews, get out of here. Death to the Jews,” and proceeded to assault the Jewish driver.   While there were only three reported antisemitic physical assaults in Argentina in 2019, the number of overall antisemitic incidents rose by 107% compared to 2018.
