Regina police confirm 140 officers received vaccine
After the government s announcement Monday afternoon, Regina Police Service spokesperson Elizabeth Popowich sent a news release indicating 115 officers received a dose Saturday evening and 25 on Sunday.
She said a further 60 front-line officers will receive a dose once supply allows. Front-line members are those uniformed police officers who are responding to COVID and emergency calls in the community, and whose work necessitates direct contact with the public in dynamic situations, Popowich said.
Health Minister Paul Merriman told the media on Monday afternoon that the government reached out to the first responders on Saturday because of a lull in the drive-thru in Regina.

The New York State Common Retirement Fund, which is the third-largest public pension plan in the U.S., announced on Monday it will sell over US$7 million in securities connected to Canada’s oilpatch companies, according to the National Observer. The reason for the divestment stems from the fund’s perspective that the companies are not ready for the green transition.
“As nations around the world become increasingly serious about addressing the threat of climate change and as market forces drive a low-carbon economic transition, we need to make sure our investments line up with this reality,” Thomas DiNapoli, the fund’s trustee, said in a statement.
TC Energy Eyeing Increased Canada Natural Gas Exports to Western U.S. through West Path Expansion
Capacity additions underway in annual stages on three TC Energy Corp. pipeline subsidiaries are set to increase Canadian natural gas exports to California, Nevada, Oregon and Washington during 2022 and 2023.
The coordinated expansions, a package titled West Path, pioneer a switch to quiet growth that TC President Francois Poirier outlined at a spring investment forum held by the Scotiabank CAPP Energy Symposium that was cosponsored by the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers.
Poirier said the Calgary pipeline and power conglomerate plans to avoid repeating environmental and political “regulatory risk” that aborted high-profile proposals for new conduits, Energy East across Canada and Keystone XL in the United States.

Progressive activists have called for a Green New Deal, a linking of the U.S. climate and labor movements to create an equitable and decarbonized economy and move away from fossil fuels to address the climate crisis. But major labor unions and President Barack Obama’s Energy Secretary have far different plans.
On the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, the AFL–CIO and the Energy Futures Initiative (EFI) a nonprofit founded and run by former Obama Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz launched the Labor Energy Partnership. Unlike those calling for a Green New Deal, though, this alliance supports increased fracking for oil and gas, as well as other controversial technologies that critics say prop up fossil fuels. It’s also an agenda matching a number of the former Energy Secretary’s personal financial investments.
