Teachers across the province are seeing red after Alberta’s finance minister quietly signed ministerial orders at the end of the year that they say give the government-owned investment manager more control over workers’ pensions.
One of four orders signed by Finance Minister Travis Toews on Dec. 23 changed the terms of the Alberta Teachers’ Retirement Fund (ATRF) to allow the Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo) to reject changes proposed by the pension manager in its investment policy.

As a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Canada and as a team member of Villa St. Joseph Ecology and Spirituality Centre in Cobourg Ontario I am writing to express my concern re the Nuclear Dump that is proposed for the South Bruce area. Most religious communities are signing on to the Blue Communities Project which sees the right to clean water a basic right for all peoples around the world (The Council of Canadians, the Blue Planet Project and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) initiated the Blue Communities Project in 2009)
Waterloo region paramedics denied WSIB claims for COVID-19: Union
The union representing paramedics in Waterloo region say paramedics who have tested positive for COVID-19 are being denied claims through Workplace Safety and Insurance Board. WSIB says it s reviewing cases where paramedics were denied their claims but have tested positive for COVID-19.
