Prince Philip s complex personality meant he had both fans and detractors
A somber mood descended on the British capital at lunchtime on Friday as the news of Prince Philip s death made the rounds. Flags were lowered to half-mast across the UK, and reactions poured in from around the world.
Just two months shy of turning 100, Philip died at Windsor Castle just west of London in the early hours of April 9. He had long been suffering from a heart condition and had only been released from hospital three weeks earlier.

There are great many problems that we face in this country today that have a direct bearing on the survivability of the United States and the freedoms of its people. There are forces at work, behind-the-scenes to most people but out in the open to many others that have the goal of changing the United States from a capitalist society where everyone has an equality of opportunity, to a more structured society where everyone has the same outcome no matter how hard they work and that is known as socialism. SYDNEY â Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison offered his countryâs âdeepest sympathies and condolencesâ to Queen Elizabeth II on the passing of Prince Philip.
âWhile your strength and stay, your Majesty, may now have passed, Jenny and I pray that you will find great comfort in your faith, in your family, at this time, he said. âBut we also, your Majesty, say to you as a Commonwealth, let us also now be your strength and stay as you continue to endure, as you continue to serve so loyally and so faithfully, as you have done over so many generations.â
