Anne, 70, is considered a royal stalwart who is completely dedicated to the monarchy’s values and one of the hardest-working members of the Firm. Despite being the Queen’s second child and continuously slipping further down the line of succession as the Royal Family grows, she has never wavered in her duties. But she did have one minor slip-up during a prestigious reception which made headlines around the world and the upsetting occasion should act as a warning to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as they consider stepping into political spheres
The Latest: Anchorage opens up after COVID-19 drop, vaccines
By The Associated PressJanuary 29, 2021 GMT
ANCHORAGE, Alaska A decrease in the rate of COVID-19 infections buoyed by other factors like having 12% of the population vaccinated has led Alaska’s largest city to relax restrictions placed on businesses to combat the pandemic, officials said Thursday.
The municipality of Anchorage will double the occupancy rate to 50 percent for bars, restaurants, storefront businesses, gyms, bingo halls and theaters as of Monday, said acting Mayor Austin Quinn-Davidson. Last call will also be moved back an hour, with alcohol service ending at midnight.
Anchorage is averaging about 60 new COVID-19 cases a day, said Dr. Janet Johnston, the epidemiologist for the Anchorage Health Department. While that’s still considered high, it’s a level not seen since last October.
Little passion greeted President Joe Biden s decision to kill the Keystone XL pipeline. Remarkably little.
Sure, Alberta Premier Jason Kenney called the move an insult. His Canadian province had sunk $1.1 billion into the project, designed to transport dirty oil from Alberta s tar sands to refineries on the Gulf of Mexico.
But the Keystone XL pipeline was an artifact from an earlier time. When it was proposed in 2008, the price of crude had jumped to over $120 a barrel, causing some to fret that the energy supply would fall short of demand.
Oil is now down to about $50 a barrel, thanks in large part to the shale-oil boom. Thus, American oil producers won t be losing much sleep over the loss of a venture that would have added to supply, possibly depressing their prices even more. By the way, energy economists say that producing petroleum from Canadian tar sands could not turn a profit until the global oil price passes $65 a barrel.

JERUSALEM Israel on Thursday said it was extending coronavirus vaccinations to adults age 35 and older, an expansion of its world-leading drive to vanquish COVID-19.
Health Ministry Director General Hezi Levy said shots would be available to the new age group starting Friday.
The change reflects Israel’s aggressive drive to inoculate its entire population by the spring and the country is on track to do so. More than a quarter of Israel’s 9.3 million people have been vaccinated so far.

COLUMBIA, S.C. A new variant of the coronavirus emerged Thursday in the United States, posing yet another public health challenge in a country already losing more than 3,000 people to COVID-19 every day.

The mutated version of the virus, first identified in South Africa, was found in two cases in South Carolina. Public health officials said it’s almost certain that there are more infections that have not been identified yet. They are also concerned that this version spreads more easily and that vaccines could be less effective against it.
