Webinar addresses vacating the records of human trafficking victims January 13, 2021 Share This A proposed bill that would expunge criminal convictions for Connecticut’s trafficking victims was the focus of the Quinnipiac School of Law’s January 8 webinar, “Fighting Human Trafficking by Decriminalizing Victims: Expanding Connecticut’s Vacatur Laws.” The webinar, part of an ongoing series to raise awareness of human trafficking, was planned by the law school’s Human Trafficking Prevention Project. Nearly 250 viewers listened as a diverse group of lawyers and experts weighed in on the bill, which was drafted by the school’s Civil Justice Clinic and HTPP.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, “home” has become more central to our lives as public health guidance instructs us to distance from our communities. However, for many of the state’s most vulnerable residents, home is neither a safe nor stable place. As the pandemic creates new barriers to maintaining income and paying rent, a new study from researchers at Georgia Tech emphasizes why proactive policies to improve housing security, including preventing evictions even before they are filed, are needed to protect children in vulnerable communities.

Missing North Haven Brothers, Ages 1 & 2, Found In Florida

Reply(1) (Patch graphic) NORTH HAVEN, CT Two brothers missing from North Haven were found safe with their mother Wednesday in Florida, according to police. Silver Alerts were issued Monday for Lucifer and Thor Guy, who were believed to be with their mother, Brittany Young. Thor is 12 months and Lucifer is 2. North Haven police responded to the 100 block of Montowese Avenue on Dec. 26 to assist the Connecticut Department of Children and Families with a welfare check, according to officials. Subscribe Police found that Young may have left with the children to avoid DCF involvement, officials said. They weren t found at the home or the homes of other relatives or friends, according to police.
