Kano, Feb. 1, 2021 The Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) says removal of power distribution bottlenecks in the state’s franchise will improve the sub-sector and service delivery.
KEDCO’s Managing Director, Mr Jamil Gwamna, stated this in a statement by Ibrahim Shawai, Head, Corporate Communication, on Monday in Kano.
According to Gwamna, bottlenecks such as meter bypass, meter theft, vandalism, illegal connections, amongst other fraudulent practices, acted against power distribution.
“The threat, not limited to Kano DisCo alone has now become a big challenge as it often threatens service delivery and lead to huge economic losses for DisCos and even the government”, he said.

Speaking to journalists, on Friday, Jamil Isyaku Gwamna (pictured), chief executive officer of KEDCO, said the move will help the power firm in its effort to boost revenue collection.
In a statement, Ibrahim Sani Shawai, KEDCO’s head of corporate communications, quoted Gwamna to have said that the role of the communities is key to company’s priority in 2021.
“Hence, the initiative to engage these communities to partner with us to find a way to encourage members of their communities to continue to pay their outstanding and current bills in full,” Gwamna said.
