Month-long resurfacing of K-4 in Rice County set A $2.9 million resurfacing of K-4 in Rice County is set to start on June 14. The Kansas Department of Transportation project will involve a milling and hot-mix-asphalt overlay on nearly 24.5 miles of highway from the Barton County line to the Ellsworth County line. During the work, which officials expect to be completed in mid-July, traffic will be restricted to one lane and controlled by flaggers and a pilot car. Motorists should be prepared to stop and face delays of up to 15 minutes. Venture Corp. of Great Bend is the primary contractor for the $2.935 million project.
