Members Sean Crittendon and Diane Liebsch were in the minority as the USD 409 board voted 5-2 in 2018 to keep the Redmen and Braves mascots.
Crittendon and Liebsch again voted late Monday in favor of doing away with those mascots.
They were joined by board members Sowers and John Eplee, who had voted in 2018 to keep those mascots; and Stefanie Gardner, Sally Berger and Brandi Ross, all of whom have joined the board since 2018.

Boys State of Kansas
The American Legion Boys State of Kansas has announced that due to the uncertainty of coronavirus vaccines being fully available to the general public by the start of June, the 2021 Boys State of Kansas session will move from its traditional early June event to the first part of August.
The 2021 ALBSK session, which was to be held Sunday, June 6 through Saturday, June 12, will now be held Sunday, August 1 through Saturday, August 7 at Kansas State University in Manhattan. The program, which was canceled in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, will be in its 83rd year.
