Wellington man charged with insurance fraud, must pay restitution

Wellington Daily News According to a Wichita Eagle report, a Wellington man told his insurance company he got a second liver transplant and convinced his carrier to pay a claim for it.  However, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt said the procedure never happened. Mychael Hauss, 53, pled guilty to insurance fraud in May and will have to pay $31,755 in restitution. In a Thursday news release, Schmidt said Hauss was sentenced Tuesday in Sumner County District Court for one count of insurance fraud and one count of forgery. The judge, William R. Mott, placed Hauss on supervised probation for two years and ordered he pay a $2,500 fine in addition to the thousands in restitution he owes the insurance company.
