Hospitality will be able to reopen properly after pubs and restaurants were restricted to serving punters outside only. From May 17: - People will be able to meet indoors in groups of six, or two households. - Pubs and restaurants will be able to serve customers indoors, although they will be limited to table service. - Cinemas, museums, theatres and concert halls will be allowed to reopen although there will be capacity limits on large events. - The stay in the UK restriction will lift and people will be able to travel to green list countries, such as Portugal although they are still being advised not to go to destinations on the amber list.

INCREASING the number of play parks with equipment suitable for disabled children is a priority for council chiefs. Mum Lauren Shaw, whose eight-year-old son Bobby has cerebral palsy, said more parks in Barrow need to have better facilities. Council run playgrounds on Farm Street, Dock Museum and Stanley Road all have disabled access facilities - but she said there should be more options. The 32-year-old said she did not want to have to travel to Ulverston or somewhere further afield to have access to the facilities. “In many parks in Barrow there is not one swing that is suitable for disabled children, but in many places in South Lakeland there is, she said.
1 Ironwerx Gym The five-star rated gym has been sorely missed by the public. Michelle Lancaster said: “Top gym in the area. Very friendly and sociable. Everything you want in a gym.”
2 Life Leisure Barrow Park As pools reopen, the leisure park’s facilities will be the first stop for many. Raymond Henry said: “Normally a very busy place with lots of amenities, and a great swimming pool, gym and all-weather football. Really helpful staff as well.”
3 The Furness Railway With drinking spots reopening, Wetherspoons pubs will be a popular choice for many to return to. Dean Skipton said: “Love a nice pint. So well kept. Can’t wait to get back in there.”
