(Tribune News Service) No arrests have been made nearly five months after a Special Forces soldier and veteran were found dead Dec. 2 at Fort Bragg, an official said this week. A spokesman for the Army Criminal Investigation Command said the investigation continues into the deaths of Master Sgt. William LaVigne II, 37, and Army veteran Timothy Dumas, 44. Death certificates for Dumas and LaVigne state each died from gunshot wounds and were shot by an unknown assailant. In February, the FBI announced that it is assisting in the case. There have not been any arrest(s) and we are not releasing any additional details at this time,  Shelly Lynch, a spokeswoman for the FBI in Charlotte, said in an email this week.

Moran, 45, of Cottle Lake Drive in Coats, was charged March 19 with three counts of sexual activity by a substitute parent/custodian, according to the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office. Lawyers for the alleged victims, who are not from Harnett County, said that the students boarded with Moran while attending classes at the school. One student lived at the Moran home between 2018 to 2019; the second began living there in 2020, the lawyers said. Moran was arrested after the mother of one of the boys called the Harnett County Sheriff s Office to the school on March 17, court records show. According to the Harnett County Sheriff s Office, Moran was released Tuesday on $30,000 bail. Her next appearance in Cumberland County District Court is May 25. If the case is indicted by a grand jury before then, Moran will next appear in Superior Court.

Investigators try to put together timeline of soldier, veteran before Fort Bragg killings

(Tribune News Service) Federal investigators are trying to determine where a Fort Bragg soldier and a veteran were before they were killed. The FBI and U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command want to know if anyone saw Master Sgt. William J. Lavigne II, 37, or Timothy J. Dumas, 44, on Dec. 1-2, according to a statement released by the FBI on Tuesday. The bodies of the two men were found near a Fort Bragg training area on Dec. 2. Lavigne s gray 2016 Chevrolet Colorado pickup was found at the crime scene near Manchester Road, the statement said. A dark-colored 2015 Dodge Ram pickup belonging to Dumas was discovered abandoned somewhere else, it said.
