But during a pandemic that poses a real problem to school districts especially as many of them remain virtual or functioning under a hybrid model.  Right now the district has 2800 students who are virtual. Facebook Share Mechanicsburg councilman Joe Bucher has announced his intention to run for the borough seat he was selected to fill last year. A longtime resident of Mechanicsburg, Bucher initially served as a volunteer on the Shade Tree Commission and the Environmental Advisory Council in 2018. In July 2020, he was chosen to fill former councilman Jack Winchell’s term. Currently a third grade teacher in the Cumberland Valley School District, Bucher has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in educational leadership and policy from Shippensburg University, according to his campaign’s press release.
