10-day Bangabandhu birth centenary programme begins tomorrow 507 DHAKA, March 16, 2021 (BSS) – A 10-day special programme will begin at National Parade Ground from tomorrow marking the birth centenary celebration of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Golden Jubilee of the Independence. The events will be held till March 26 following the health rules and guests from home and abroad will take part at the events, said a press release. Earlier, at a press conference, Chief Coordinator of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Birth Centenary Celebration National Implementation Committee Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury informed that the theme of the 10-day event is ‘Mujib Chirantan’, but separate theme for each day has been taken.

50 years of independence: Rejoicing at myriad positives

The country starts its 10-day celebrations of Mujib Borsho and golden jubilee of independence today with colourful events and presence of global leaders. The celebrations have been planned to coincide with the birthday of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who led Bangladesh s Liberation War against Pakistan in 1971. The celebrations will end on March 26 on Independence Day. The occasion is well worth a celebration and the government has arranged countrywide programmes to mark it, given the country s socio-economic progress in the last decades and its important place in the global arena. Different countries as well as experts have lauded Bangladesh, which has emerged as one of the fastest growing economies in Asia. It is well on track to graduate from a least developed country (LDC) to a developing one by 2026.

The Foreign Minister made the remarks while replying to a question from reporters at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. “Teesta deal was signed 10 years ago but not implemented. The most important thing is that the Indian Prime Minister, leader of the world’s biggest democracy and our biggest neighbor, will visit Bangladesh, it’s a matter of pleasure. Four other Southeast Asian leaders will also be here… It’ll be a big festival,” he said.
