NEW YORK The New York City Democratic mayoral primary is drawing unwanted attention from a place far outside city limits MAGA country.
As eight candidates vie for the post being vacated by Mayor Bill de Blasio a favorite punching bag for conservatives right-wing media is showing its fascination with an election that, to many, will serve as a nationwide political referendum on the future of Democratic cities.
A young man leaned out an apartment window and yelled at the protester: “Shut up, he’s going to give us $1,000″ a reference to Yang's former presidential universal basic income proposal.“

With a significant chunk of voters still undecided weeks away from the Democratic primary for New York City mayor, candidates continued their bitter war of words against one another on Tuesday.
Businessman Andrew Yang accused Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams of waging “an assault” on the city’s campaign finance system, pointing to a recent New York Times report detailing how Adams has used his office to help supporters.
For small-dollar contributions from New Yorkers, the city provides mayoral candidates with “matching funds” at an eight-to-one ratio.
