West Bengal Assembly elections: Former CPI(M) leader Sankar Ghosh joins BJP ANI | Updated: Mar 13, 2021 12:05 IST
Ghosh was the former CPI(M) Secretariat member for the Darjeeling district and the member of the Board of Administrators at the Siliguri Municipal Corporation.
He had forwarded his resignation on Wednesday to Jiben Sarkar, party secretary revolting against CPI(M) s alleged lack of democracy and he was expelled from CPI(M) for alleged anti-party activities on the same day.
BJP National General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya and Darjeeling MP Raju Bista were present at the function where a BJP flag was handed over to Ghosh.

The polling percentage in the Kurnool district at 9 a.m. was 10.92. The polling in urban local body elections began on a peaceful note in 11 local bodies in Anantapur and seven local bodies in Kurnool district and it was very brisk in Anantapur with 11.61% recorded in the first two hours till 9 a.m. The polling percentage in the Kurnool district at 9 a.m. was 10.92.

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) [India], March 10 (ANI): The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Wednesday announced the list of 83 candidates out of 85 seats in it is contesting in the upcoming Assembly polls in Kerala.
Five ministers of the Kerala Government and 33 sitting MLAs of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) will not be in the fray.
The Left Democratic Front (LDF) convenor and acting CPI-M state secretary A Vijayaraghavan said, Out of 83 candidates 74 candidates are contesting in party symbols, nine candidates are CPI-M supported independent candidates. With regard to two seats Manjeshwaram and Devikulam we will announce the names later, he said adding that the decision is due to a large per cent of linguistic minorities and Tamil migrant workers in these constituencies respectively.
