Udupi, Jan 1: Two youth were crushed to death by a speeding car when they were writing Happy New Year on the road at Mijar near Bajagoli in Karkala taluk of Udupi district last night.
The victims have been identified as Sharan and Siddu, both aged around 25 years, hailing from Muddebihala in Vijayapura district.
The two were welcoming the New Year by writing the wishes in huge letters on the road at around 10.45 pm on Thursday December 31 when an Eeco car hit them.

Concerned about the unavailability of beef during Christmas, the meat traders of the state raised the issue with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday.
Goa s beef traders have urged Chief Minister Sawant to use his good offices with the BJP to prevent Karnataka s Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Bill, 2020, from being notified.
SDM University adopts 10 govt primary schools in Dharwad

Dharwad, Dec 19: Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara (SDM) University, which is celebrating its second anniversary, will adopt 10 government primary schools in the Dharwad district to take care of their overall development in a phased manner.
Giving details of the second anniversary programs,Vice Chancellor Niranjan Kumar said that they had already identified some schools and collected information regarding their requirements.
“We plan to facilitate the overall development in a phased manner over three to four years. Depending on the requirement of each school we plan to provide basic amenities, infrastructure, training for the teachers and holding workshops for the students. The objective is to ensure that the students get benefits,” he added.
