  TORONTO, ONT. Health officials say mosquitoes in York Region have tested positive for the West Nile virus. They say the positive results come from a mosquito trap in Markham. Dr. Karim Kurji, York Region s medical officer of health, says that while the chance of being bitten by an infected mosquito is low, people should be take care to prevent bites when outside early in the morning and in the evening.   BARRIE, ONT. A popup COVID-19 vaccination clinic was set up in Stouffville on Sunday to increase accessibility to the vaccine for young people. Carter Norman is a 14-year-old grade 9 student in Stouffville and is eager to return to the classroom. Carter and his father received their vaccines at a popup clinic. I m excited because it means I can hang out with my friends, Carter says. Many students and parents in the province are wondering what the plan will look like for the upcoming school year. York Region s top doctor, Dr. Karim Kurji, says increasing vaccinations amongst younger people is crucial for students to return to class in September.

  BARRIE, ONT. A steady stream of Simcoe Muskoka residents moved through the line on Tuesday at Barrie s Sperling Drive vaccination clinic. For some, it was a decision made to avoid mixing second doses of COVID-19 vaccines. There are a lot of conflicting reports, so we already made the decision we weren t going to take (Moderna), said one person waiting in line. While some regions like York have seen upwards of 1,200 people a day walking away from clinics if they did not get their preferred vaccine, operations director Stella Johnson says most people can get the vaccine they want. We have both brands available almost all of the time, so they really are able to get the brands they are comfortable with, Johnson said.
