Mercy Health Saint Mary s says it will hold pop up clinics and make the COVID-19 vaccine more accessible in neighborhood offices to address disparities in dose administration so far.
The Grand Rapids hospital has administered nearly 22,000 shots and of them 3% have gone to Black residents and 3% to Latinx residents, said Dr. Andrew Jameson during a Wednesday press conference. It is a huge priority, said Jameson, who is the medical director of infection prevention and control. It s a huge priority for the health department and us, and we re really open about being transparent about what that data is.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. â Mercy Health St. Maryâs is working to vaccinate as many people as possible, especially in under served communities in West Michigan.
Several health leaders from the healthcare group held a virtual press conference Wednesday, updating the community about vaccination rates and procedures in our area.
Each member stressed the importance of being patient as the system works quickly to get eligible people vaccinated.
âVaccinating our patients in the community will take time,â said Mercy Healthâs Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Matt Biersack, MD.

Mercy Health opened a new 42,000-square-foot facility at 3570 Henry St., previously the location of the former Kmart, on the corner of Seminole Road in Norton Shores.
The new facility offers primary care, behavioral health, X-ray, lab services, lakeshore laser and aesthetics and rehabilitation services including physical, occupational and speech therapy. It also will include a pharmacy and urgent care, opening at a later date.
Mercy Health Norton Shores is designed for patient convenience, bringing several key health care services under one roof. It will consolidate three primary care practices in the area into a single location: Harborwood Family Medicine, Harbour Pointe and Norton Family Practice.
