Obituary: Carl Raymond Ray Ritchey (3/3/21) | Cassville Democrat

Wednesday, March 3, 2021 Carl Raymond “Ray” Ritchey, 79, of Shell Knob, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2021, at Mercy Hospital Springfield in Springfield. He was born Jan. 14, 1942, in St. Joseph, the son of Uriah Edward and Dorothy (Connell) Ritchey. On July 4, 1971, in Liberty, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Kaye (Holder) who preceded him in death on May 25, 2009. Also preceding him in death were his parents. Surviving is one son, Robb Ritchey of Virginia Beach, Va. He was a graduate of Cameron High School in Cameron, later attending William Jewell College in Liberty, where he attained a Bachelor of Arts Degree. He was a four-year letter winner in football and golf. He set the NAIA National Record for consecutive points after a touchdown with 29 consecutive extra points. In golf he set a course record of 69 in winning the UCM Invitational At Warrensburg. In 1985, he moved to Shell Knob where he owned Shell Knob Insurance.

ATV accident injures two near Joplin

1 min to read Two Springfield residents suffered moderate injuries in an all-terrain vehicle accident at 2:22 p.m. Sunday on private property along Schifferdecker Avenue, about a mile north of Joplin in Jasper County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The driver of the vehicle, Austin S. Stine, 23, was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital Joplin. His passenger, an 11-year-old girl, was taken to Mercy Hospital Springfield, the state patrol said. The girl s name was not released by the patrol due to her status as a juvenile. The patrol said Stine lost control of the ATV and both he and the girl were thrown from the vehicle, which then came to rest on top of him.
