New York Stage and Film Commits $100,000 to Support Artists with NEXUS Initiative New York Stage and Film, considered “one of the preeminent incubators for theater in the country,” has committed $100,000 to their new NEXUS Initiative that brings together 20 multi-hyphenate artists to explore the question “where does story exist at the intersection of stage and film?” Through this inaugural program, NYSAF will offer direct support to these artists – each participant receives $5,000 and will take part in a series of conversations focused on the needs of new and expanded forms of storytelling that resonate with our time. In order to increase access to the program and respond to the ideas of a broad range of storytellers, these 20 participants were recommended by 14 leading artists of stage and film for their accomplishments in exploring new forms of storytelling. Unique Black history museum in Wilson expands to reveal more stories nearly lost to time

WILSON, N.C. (WTVD) Abandoned, worn down and almost forgotten a special round house built back in 1946 has been saved for future generations to learn the story behind it. If walls could talk, the round house in Wilson would likely say, Thank you.thank you because you saved my life, explained Bill Myers, executive director of the Oliver Nestus Freeman Round House Museum. In the late 90s, the round house still stood on Freeman Street in Wilson. Oliver Nestus Freeman built the round house in 1946, and to say the creative African American mason was ahead of his time might be an understatement.

G98.7FM PRESENTS BLACK HISTORY MONTH Ferguson Jenkins Ferguson Arthur Jenkins was born in Chatham, Ont. on Dec. 13, 1942. He spent 21 years in the major leagues and played for the Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago Cubs, Texas Rangers and Boston Red Sox.  Highlights of his career include winning the 1971 National League Cy Young Award as the league’s top pitcher with the Chicago Cubs.  In 1974 he won the American League Comeback Player of the Year Award when he won a career-high 25 games as a Texas Ranger.  Jenkins retired as a Chicago Cub in 1983 and was the first Canadian inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1991.

February programming includes an inspiring virtual lecture series, an entertaining and thought-provoking one-man show by Jahman Hill and stunning new art exhibitions. Additionally, regularly scheduled programs, including the Lunch with Art Lecture Series, Lunch with Art Poetry Edition, Lyrics Lab, Montage Virtual Film Series and Virtual Story Time will showcase Black community leaders, filmmakers, entertainers and historical figures. The monthly Green Market Pompano Beach will also honor Black History Month by giving away grab-and-go art kits.
