The Alabama State Conference National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) supports the “Wear Orange” campaign to “honor the lives of people in the United States affected by gun violence and demand an end to this crisis.” The NAACP national activities on Friday, June 4, 2021, will show support for National Gun Violence Awareness Day.
The “Wear Orange” organization was started to honor 15-year-old Hadiya Pendleton, who was shot and killed in Chicago in 2013. The color orange was what her friends wore to honor her. “After her death, they asked us to stand up, speak out, and Wear Orange to raise awareness about gun violence.”

This week marks the 100th anniversary of the Tulsa race massacre. In 1921, exactly one hundred years ago, a race war broke out in Tulsa between a white mob that wanted to lynch a young black man and African-American citizens who were going to protect him. After two days of violence, there were at least 36 deaths (mostly blacks) and one of the most prosperous black communities in America was left in smoldering ruins. I grew up about 10 miles from where this occurred.
The Greenwood District in Tulsa was nicknamed “Black Wall Street” because of its middle-class and upper-middle class prosperity. Eighth Noose Found at Connecticut Mega Amazon Construction Site
An eighth noose has been found. Is this a white supremacist message? Or maybe just a small group of morons looking to impress their friends and get a rise out of Connecticut residents?
It began in late April when a noose was found at the ginormous construction site where Amazon is building a new warehouse in Windsor, as reported by the Hartford Courant.

Since then, six other nooses have been discovered, and just recently, an eighth noose has appeared, and now Amazon has shut down the worksite fearing for people s safety.
National Pipe and Plastics to Open New West Endicott Headquarters
A Broome County-based manufacturing company is preparing to move its corporate offices from the town of Vestal to the town of Union.
National Pipe and Plastics is expected to move into its 22,690-square-foot headquarters complex in West Endicott next month.
The company opened a large production facility on a 35-acre site off Mills Avenue in March 2014.
