White House to Host Black History Month Concert With Anthony Hamilton, Gospel Choir

President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and the First Lady and Second Gentleman will host a virtual Black History Month Celebration featuring performances by Anthony Hamilton and the St. Augustine Gospel Choir. The prerecorded event takes place at 8 p.m. ET tonight (Friday, Feb. 26).
The program will be livestreamed on the White House official Facebook, Twitter and YouTube channels and, according to the announcement, share messages celebrating the Black experience and Black contributions to our country’s history. The event will also highlight the executive actions and policy proposals that honor Black History by working to lift every voice and improving the futures of Black Americans.

The city of South Bend the the Black History Month Committee are honoring 13 local leaders who ve made important contributions to the city s history and culture.
âItâs important to recognize our local African-American leaders, who do tremendous work to strengthen our community,â said Mayor James Mueller, in a statement. âI thank the Black History Month committee for celebrating these contributions and the impact the honorees make in South Bend.âa
Each of the awardees will be featured on a series of digital billboards and will be honored at the Black History Month Celebration, which will be held virtually at 6 p.m. Thursday.
20 South Side grads get scholarships

Twenty South Side High School 2020 graduates got full-ride, two-year scholarships to Ivy Tech Community College Fort Wayne thanks to an anonymous donor who shares their alma mater, according to a news release.
The $200,000 gift ensures the 20 students will graduate from college with little to no educational debt, the Ivy Tech release said. Recipients can use the scholarship to pay for tuition, books, supplies and fees.
Ivy Tech described the donor as someone “deeply rooted in the advancement of social justice and providing equitable educational opportunities for students.”
The South Side graduate established the scholarship to support students who demonstrate financial need and are the first member of their family to attend college, the release said.
