Peter Nyaga Ivara, an ECDE teacher at Gatete Primary School in Mbeere South Sub County of Embu County, says his two nephews wrestled him down before dragging him to their homestead where they set him on fire. “I left school as usual at around 4:10 pm. It’s walking, about five kilometres to Karura trading centre where I took some time to rest before heading home. It is while walking home that I found my two nephews who had waylaid me and they wrestled me down,” Nyaga said.

Twitter Kenya Forest Service (KFS) Chairman Peter Kinyua has praised Nairobi Metropolitan Service (NMS) for swooping in to put out a night fire at the institution s headquarters. Kinyua noted that the fire had broken out on Monday, January 25 at 11:30 p.m. at the KFS headquarters in Karura along Kiambu Road. NMS, which is headed by Mohammed Badi, immediately contained the fire in partnership with General Service Unit (GSU). Videos shared by the KBC showed a big cloud of fire consuming a section of the headquarters before the officers from the two organisations contained it.

The court was told that Warunge was unfit to stand trial. [George Njunge, Standard]   Lawrence Warunge, the chief suspect in the murder of his parents and siblings, is not fit to stand trial. A medical assessment done at Mathari National Teaching and Referral Hospital shows that Lawrence suffers from induced psychosis, a condition characterised by hallucinations and/or delusions. It further states that he has a history of smoking marijuana and drinking alcohol. The prosecution tabled the report yesterday before Kiambu Chief Magistrate Patricia Gichohi and made an application for extension of custodial orders, which the Chief Magistrate granted.
