An alumnus of the ballet school, Mitchell offered to teach a class to support Westside Ballet s boys ballet program and as well to share his professional ballet journey as a part of Westside Ballet s newest installment in their Dance Talks series. The Master Class will run from 9:30-10:50am on the President s Day National Holiday and will be offered at $15 for participants not currently enrolled at Westside

Plaque unveiled in memory of Abermule train collision victims on 100th anniversary

By Staff Reporter A plaque was unveiled in Abermule to remember 100 years since the railway disaster on January 26, 1921. Pic: Network Rail A memorial plaque to remember the 17 people who died in the Abermule train collision, which happened 100 years ago today, has been unveiled. On January 26, 1921, two trains collided head-on on the Cambrian line, killing 17 people in what remains one of the biggest rail collisions in the UK. To mark the centenary, wreaths have been laid in the village on behalf of Network Rail, Abermule with Llandyssil Community Council, Powys County Council and Machynlleth Town Council. A commemorative plaque, sponsored by Network Rail, Transport for Wales & Abermule with Llandyssil Community Council, has also been donated to the community, remembering those who lost their lives.

Plans for new holiday park near Caersws are submitted

PLANS have been submitted for a holiday park near Caersws, close to where a new crematorium could be built. Farmer Jack Woosnam has applied to build a holiday park including infrastructure at “Cwmhafren Field,” Ael y Bryn, on the B4568 road between Caersws and Aberhafesp. The development would be a mixture of caravans and chalets. In a design and access statement, agent Christopher Wozencraft, of Wozencraft Design Services, explained the holiday park development would be for 35 holiday units in total, and also included vehicle access from the B4568 highway and drainage treatment plant. The site is 3.7miles away from Newtown, and just under a mile from Caersws.
