RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) Music is once again filling the air at the North Carolina Museum of Art s 164-acre outdoor park after months of cancelled events due to the pandemic.
Each weekday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and weekends from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the NCMA Jukebox plays over speakers at the museum s outdoor amphitheater with pre-recorded music, curated by Moses Alexander Greene, the NCMA director of performing arts and film and NCMA manager of concerts and music programs Janette Hoffman. Much of the music selected is connected to the museum s programming or collections of artifacts. NCMA Jukebox is four hours of continuous curated music that comes from our collection, Greene said. It reflects our collection here at the museum, but it also reflects the interests of our patrons.

.-The North Carolina Museum of Art welcomes seven new staff members in departments across the Museums curatorial, performing arts, and membership departments, supported in part by a grant awarded from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
This exciting slate of new hires brings diverse perspectives to the Museums member and visitor offerings, as part of a passionate staff dedicated to the Peoples Collection of North Carolina, said Director Valerie Hillings. We are dedicated to making the NCMA a welcoming place for all visitors through multifaceted exhibitions and music, dance, film, and theater programming, aided by the Mellon Foundations support of the Museums strategic vision. This grant will allow us to lead boldly through our incredible collection, pushing to shift the current narratives around art history.
RALEIGH â The N.C. Department of Transportation is again bringing together art and aviation, as the agency hosts the 2021 North Carolina Aviation Art Contest.
This year s theme is A Friendlier World with Air Sports. Hot air balloons, stunt pilots, airshows and so much more bring people together and creates friendships that connect people from all over the world and of all ages. Students are invited to grab their art supplies and create artwork that captures the friendlier world that comes from people meeting and sharing their love of sport aviation.
All students who live in or attend school in North Carolina and were born between Jan. 1, 2003 and Dec. 31, 2014 are encouraged to participate by submitting their own artwork.
