Melissa Merrell, chair of the Union County Board of Education, said the NCHSAA needs to a new appeals process because the current setup lacks due process for student-athletes deemed ineligible.
Buddy Collins, the former Vice Chair of the State Board of Education, said he raised concerns about the NCHSAA while serving on the board. He said many of the issues legislators are bringing to the table are issues he found years ago.
