COLUMBIA, S.C. (WBTV) - South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster has tested positive for COVID-19, officials say.
After undergoing routine testing due to coming into close contact with the COVID-19 virus, Gov. McMaster was notified late Monday evening that he has tested positive for the virus.
First Lady Peggy McMaster, who also tested positive last week, remains asymptomatic, while the governor is experiencing mild symptoms with a cough and slight fatigue.

South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster has tested positive for the coronavirus. He was notified of the positive, Monday evening, after routine testing for coming into close contact with the virus.
McMaster is experiencing mild symptoms, including a cough and slight fatigue. Peggy McMaster, his wife, has remained asymptomatic after testing positive for the virus late last week.
The Governor is encouraging the public to stay safe during the holiday season adding that ‘the virus spreads very easily.’
He will begin receiving Monoclonal Antibody treatment today. According to SCDHEC physicians, there is no way to pinpoint precisely when or how Governor McMaster or the First Lady contracted the virus.
