COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - South Carolina State leaders have announced they will be hosting a virtual career fair for veterans on May 4.
South Carolina Department of Administration Executive Director Marcia Adams and South Carolina Department of Veteransâ Affairs Secretary William Grimsley joined Governor Henry McMaster Monday to make the announcement.
The virtual career fair has been designed to give veterans the chance to explore opportunities with over 30 state agencies and higher education institutions.

McMaster said. âWe value our men and women who have served, and we want them to know that they can continue that great tradition of service with a career in state government. MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCSC) - Mount Pleasant named a 25-year law enforcement veteran as its new police chief Friday morning.
Deputy Chief Mark Arnold will succeed Carl Richie as the town’s top law enforcement officer.
“Mark possesses the education, experience, and skills to serve successfully as Mount Pleasant’s police chief. He understands our community and shares Town Council’s belief in the importance of maintaining a safe community,” Mount Pleasant Town Administrator Eric DeMoura said.
Lesa Benjaminâs father, Tim Ward, passed away in law enforcement custody in March 2020.He was arrested for DUI. Benjamin believes he had a stroke while he was driving and that the signs of that stroke were not noticed by the South Carolina Highway Patrol trooper who arrested Ward.Ward failed a field sobriety test, according to the trooperâs report. He could not register a reading when his breath was tested for alcohol, and he was taken to the hospital to have his blood tested, the report shows.Ward was evaluated by medical professionals after he fell, according to the report, and cleared to be taken to the detention center.He was returned to the hospital the same evening. MARION, S.C. (WMBF) - The City of Marion has officially sworn in its new police chief.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office posted a photo to social media Friday showing Bobby Crawford being sworn in as the city’s new police chief. Crawford previously worked with the sheriff’s office as a major.
He will also be the department’s third different police chief within the past four months.
