The North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles has confirmed that it will no longer issue official license plates bearing the Confederate flag, and those that have such plates will need to replace them upon registration this year.
WTVD-TV in Raleigh reports that the North Carolina DMV s new policy went into effect on Jan. 1. In a statement, North Carolina s Department of Transportation said the plates have the potential to offend those who view them.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Natalie Michelle Quarles, 45, has been sentenced to 9 years in prison after pleading guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
The charges stem from a traffic stop that occurred in Lexington on July 3, 2018.
According to evidence presented in court, a deputy with the Lexington County Sheriffâs Department initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for failure to maintain its lane on July 3, 2018. Quarles was the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Richland School District 1 is now hiring bus drivers.
Applicants must be 18 years old, have a high school diploma or GED, and pass background checks done by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles.
“Richland One starts its bus drivers at $14.63 per hour,” said Dennis Jones, manager for safety and training in Richland One Student Transportation Services. “Plus, we offer flexible hours and $500 signing bonuses for drivers who already have their CDL license/certification and one year’s experience.”
