Bengaluru, Jan 9: Former Chief Minister and Congress Opposition Leader in the Karnataka Assembly Siddaramaiah said the formation of the coalition government with the JD(S) in the State after the 2018 polls was a big loss for the party as it resulted in the loss of its 14 MLAs.
The coalition government with the JD(S) was formed soon after the fractured verdict in 2018 Assembly elections after the intervention of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
With the initiative of some Central leaders of the Congress, the coalition government was hurriedly formed with JD(S) apparently without the consent of Siddaramaiah.

Bengaluru, Dec 22: Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) on Tuesday requested the Karnataka government to retain it as the implementing agency for the Bhagyalakshmi scheme aimed at providing financial security to the girl child of families below the poverty line.
Under the scheme, the girl child gets Rs 1 lakh after completing 18 years.
Two months ago, the state government had assigned the postal department, instead of the LIC, to implement its flagship programme Bhagyalakshmi scheme as the interest rate of the LIC was low.
The decision to switch the agency was taken in the cabinet meeting on October 22.
