HUBBALLI: The Dharwad district administration and Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) are leaving no stone unturned to break the chain of spread of the novel coronavirus. The Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) has decided to seal areas where Covid-19 cases are found in large numbers. It has sealed five areas in Dharwad, and contact tracing of patients in Hubballi-Dharwad is under process. The number of sealed areas is expected to rise, even in Hubballi.
According to sources in the HDMC, Barakotri, Tejaswi Nagar, Chaitanya Nagar, Malamaddi and Siddheshwar Nagar were sealed on Sunday, as Covid-19 cases are on the rise there.
Dr Suresh Itnal, commissioner, HDMC, said that after holding a discussion with the DC, they have decided to seal five areas in Dharwad, where Covid-19 cases are on the rise. “Already, orders have been issued to seal areas where the cases are more. Police have taken up a case of assault and criminal intimidation against three persons named by student Priyadarshini R. Her neighbours Prabhu, his brother Arjun and their cousin Ram are the alleged suspects.
Priyadarshini told police that her mother tested positive in September 2020 and recovered. Since then, the suspects blamed her family members for infections in the area. MANGALURU: Weddings may have led to the recent Covid-19 surge in Dakshina Kannada. Several guests who attended wedding functions last month have tested positive for Covid-19.
A family organised a wedding ceremony with limited guests at a hall on April 25. A few days after the event, the groom’s father tested positive and spent a few days in the ICU, before being discharged. Similarly, several guests who attended a Christian wedding in the first week of April, had reportedly tested positive for Covid-19. “Most of the family members of those who attended the wedding from Sakleshpur, and other guests tested positive for the novel coronavirus,” said a source close to the family. An aged couple who hosted a wedding in their house in Vamanjoor, tested positive for Covid-19. Likewise, many guests including family members who attended a wedding at a house in Kunjathbail, have tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
