Two more saffron activists arrested in bed blocking scam

Bengaluru, May 27: Two more people were arrested in connection with a scam related to blocking beds meant for Covid-19 patients in Bengaluru hospitals including private ones, police said.
The police have identified the accused as Yashwanth and Varun. It is said that both were saffron activists and supporters of BJP.
With the two arrests, the total number went up to 11, police said. Varun worked in the South zone war room helpline, who shared patient numbers with his friend Yashwanth. Yashwanth used to contact the patient and demand money, police said in a statement.

AAA The government on Monday issued guidelines stating that there should be no obstruction to ash immersion in any part of the State. The families of the deceased have been permitted to immerse ashes at the place of their choice.
“It has come to my notice that people heading for ash immersion are facing numerous issues either while travelling or at the places where they want to immerse ashes,” Revenue Minister R. Ashok, who is also vice-chairman of the Karnataka State Disaster Management Authority, told reporters. He said that orders have been issued to prevent such nuisance and permit families to immerse ashes at the place of their choice.

Mangaluru, May 23: The Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited, which is utilising the local resources, is giving priority to outsiders and ignoring locals, when it comes to recruitment, alleged Congress leader MLA Mohiyuddin Bava.
Speaking to media persons former Mangaluru North MLA said that North Indian candidate were given priority while filling vacant posts by MRPL.
Even though Sarojini Mahishi report emphasised appointing local candidates, the MRPL ignored local candidates during the selection process, he said.
He sought to know why BJP MLAs and MPs were silent on the issue. MRPL had promised to provide employment to local candidates. While recruiting 214 staff, only 13 from Karnataka were recruited. Among 13, only three are from Udupi, Karkala and Mangaluru.
