Karnataka Wakf Board Prohibits Use Of Loudspeakers In Mosques, Dargahs Between 10 PM And 6 AM by IANS - Mar 17, 2021 02:31 AM A mosque. (Representative image) The Karnataka State Board of Wakfs has issued a circular prohibiting the use of loudspeakers between 10 pm and 6 am during azaan or the Islamic call for ritual prayers recited at prescribed times of the day. In a circular, the board stated that the decision to bar the use of loudspeakers during the specified time was taken to prevent noise pollution. With the objective of maintaining the ambient standards of noise, the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000 are in force. The loudspeakers shall not be used in night time, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., the circular said.

State tourism may be hit if Corona crisis continues: Minister

Mysore/Mysuru: Tourism industry is likely to be hit this year if COVID-19 pandemic crisis continues, opined Tourism Minister C.P. Yogeeshwar. “Last year, Karnataka faced the impact of Corona. The pandemic has continued this year too. Till the threat of virus reduces, tourists from other States may not take the risk to come here,” the Minister told media persons, after inspecting Lingambudhi Lake in city this morning. Bring all Small Scale Industries under Pollution Control Board ambit: C P Yogeeshwar

Ecology and Environment Minister inaugurates Consent Mela Mysuru:  Tourism, Ecology and Environment Minister C.P. Yogeeshwar has instructed officials to bring all Small Scale Industries (SSIs) under the ambit of Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB). He was speaking after inaugurating ‘Consent Mela’ (Sammathi Mela) jointly organised by Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association (KASSIA), District Industries Centre (DIC) and KSPCB and distributing ‘Sammathi Letters’ at a programme held at a private hotel here on Mar. 3. The Minister said, “You have sought one month time to receive ‘Consent Letters.’ Ours is a people-friendly Government and we are not here to trouble you. It is the responsibility of KASSIA to bring all SSIs under the ambit of KSPCB. Our Government will look into the issue of fees. If it is more, we will definitely reduce it. Till then, the existing fees will continue till Mar. 31.”
