While 31 police personnel – 18 in the city and 13 in rest of the State – have tested positive for COVID-19 since April 1, their families, too, are at risk. As many as 450 family members of police personnel tested positive in the same period. “Police personnel can give their full attention to the job only when everything is all right at home. Any issues at home will rob them of their morale and initiative. So the high number of positive cases being reported in police families is a matter of serious concern,” said Praveen Sood, DG & IGP, Karnataka State Police.
