COVID-19: Karnataka caps X-Ray, CT scan rates at private labs

Highlights The rate of High Resolution CT or CT scan has been capped at Rs 1500 X-Rays can cost a maximum of Rs 250 Bengaluru: The Karnataka government on Friday (May 7) passed an order putting a cap on the rates of X-Ray, CT scan charged by private laboratories in the state. According to the order, private diagnostic centres can charge a maximum of Rs 1500 for High Resolution CT or CT scan and Rs 250 for Digital Chest X-Ray or X-Ray. The rates specified include consumables, sanitization and other things and are applicable for patients of all ages.  The decision was taken after the authorities found out that some laboratories are charging exorbitant amounts for these tests, putting unreasonable financial burden on the COVID-19 patients.

Image Source: IANS News Bengaluru, April 26 : The Bengaluru civic body issued show cause notices to four private diagnostic centres on Monday for failing to upload the test results of Covid patients to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) website within 24 hours. According to the notice, all four laboratories R.V. Metropolis Laboratory, BGS Global Hospital, Aarthi Scans and Labs and Medall Laboratory have been directed to give an explanation within 48 hours. In its notice, the civic body said that it was considering recommending revocation of the Covid-19 testing approval.
