KCSO undercover operation leads to 11 arrests of child predators

KERN COUNTY, Calif. â During the past few months, Detectives from the Kern County Sheriff s Office, Special Victims Unit conducted an undercover operation that led to the arrest of 11 online child predators, one of which was an employee of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
Undercover detectives, posing as minor children through various online applications and websites, were contacted and solicited by individuals interested in the sexual exploitation of children.
Detectives subsequently arrested the suspects when they arrived at the meeting location, while others were arrested at their homes.

LANCASTER, Calif. (KERO) â UPDATE: Clifford Bennett, who was wanted in connection to a kidnapping investigation, has been arrested. According to the KCSO, Clifford Bennett turned himself into Kern County Sheriff s Office deputies at the Mojave Jail on the morning of January 7, 2021. Deputies arrested Bennett without incident and booked him into the Kern County Jail.
Bennett faces kidnapping, willful cruelty to a child, battery, and weapons charges. No bail has been set and no date was given for any upcoming hearings.
The Kern County Sheriff s Office needs the community s help in locating a man wanted as part of a kidnapping investigation.

Man shot on Hwy. 99 near Delano died, identified by coroner

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) â New developments in a shooting near Delano that took place last week. According to officials, 27-year-old Efren Alcala Lopez of McFarland was identified as the person who was shot and killed.
According to the Kern County Sheriff s Office on Wednesday around 6:45 p.m. deputies responded to southbound Highway 99 just north of Pond Road for reports of a victim of a shooting.
It was determined the incident happened within the California Highway Patrol s jurisdiction and the investigation was handed over to the CHP.
Second $10,000 reward announced for boys reported missing in California City

CALIFORNIA CITY, Calif. â Another $10,000 reward has been offered Thursday for 3-year-old Orson West and 4-year-old Orrin West, who were reported missing in California City on Dec. 21.
This is the second reward announced from Rick and Amanda Jones, who operate a few local businesses in town.
Their GreenStone cannabis dispensary is sponsoring the first $10,000 reward and Rick s Preferred Towing shop is sponsoring the second, for a total of $20,000.
The Jones tell 23ABC News they will reward that amount to the person, or persons who provide information leading to the finding, of the boys.
