Community: Audubon DAR hosts wreaths event

(WAFB) - A Baton Rouge woman has won a $50,000 collegiate scholarship from Dr. Pepper to pursue her dream job of being a commercial aviation pilot. Kirsten Smith, a 2020 graduate of what is now Liberty High School, was named a finalist for Dr. Pepper’s Tuition Giveaway program after she submitted a video entry explaining how the scholarship would help her fulfill her career goal of becoming a commercial airline pilot.

Tabitha Rice, the reporter of the Willis All-stars 4-H club, would like to update you on their last meeting on Sunday, Nov. 8 at the Horton Christian Church. President Jaden Speer called the meeting to order. Henry Woods led us in the pledges. Song leaders Chloe Rice, Berkleigh Torkelson, and Addy Welch led us in the song Baby Bumble Bee. Roll call this meeting was, What’s your favorite thanksgiving food? Piper Chartier read the minutes of last month’s meeting. The club received Thank You notes from Tatum Lockwood and Grete Olson for their $100 scholarships from the Willis All-Stars.Treasurer Lytta and Carson Linck reported on our club’s balance and expenses. Reporters Report Kirsten Smith said the report is in the paper and on our club Facebook page.
