FAIRHAVEN – A young percussionist is making a name for himself as he follows in his father’s prosperous footsteps… or drumbeats. Joaquin Santos said he started playing the drums at three-years-old. Even after taking a break to pursue sports and karate, he kept being pulled back to the beat. “They say your gift is what you feel most comfortable doing,” said Joaquin Santos. “When I started playing, I just felt that feeling of comfortability. I felt it in my heart, felt comfortable.” And he swears it had nothing to do with the fact that his father, Jackie Santos, is a drumming rock star who has taken the stage with the likes of Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin and The Beach Boys.
