We were on tour for a decade in a row. So all of us want to rediscover what it means to be a father, friend or son. With these words from vocalist Dan Reynolds, Imagine Dragons closed a stage that was full of hits and great songs. of the new songs. Starting with Cutthroat, the vocalist revealed that song is really an exorcism of self-loathing. I feel like I’ve spent a lot of years of my life kind of [feeling] woe is me. I don’t know if depression is a genetic thing for me or whether it came from religious crisis. I was raised in Mormonism, and it wasn’t really for me. That was hard for me to come to terms with in my brain. But for whatever reason, around my teenage years, I really started to deal with mental illness, seeing a therapist and trying different medications.

agray@tribtoday.com If this music thing doesn’t work out, Dave Grohl might have a future as a filmmaker. I loved “Sound City,” the documentary Grohl directed in 2013 about the recording studio where everyone from Fleetwood Mac to Tom Petty to Nirvana recorded iconic albums, and the Neve soundboard used during those sessions. The latest documentary from the Warren native, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee and Foo Fighters frontman is “What Drives Us,” a look at life on the road as a musician. This isn’t a story of private jets and the tricked-out tour buses used by musicians of Grohl’s stature. Grohl focuses on the formative period of his career and those he interviews, when a band piled too much gear and too many people into a too-small van that became the musicians’ living space whenever they weren’t on stage.

Anticipation has been building for the Live Nation Productions adaptation since it was announced in 2018. A number of teasers have been released for the show, including one showing the Foo Fighters leader and his mother going out on the road to interview musicians and their mothers. In the latest teaser, the pair are back behind the wheel, this time singing to pass the time. The duo gives an a capella rendition of Carly Simon’s 1972 hit “You’re So Vain” before Virginia Hanlon Grohl asks Dave Grohl about why he never took an interest in the band Manhattan Transfer. Now, the first entry of the series is out, and it focuses on the relationship between Imagine Dragons’ Dan Reynolds and his mother Christene Reynolds.
