Emagine Entertainment Inc. has acquired Birmingham 8 with plans to reopen the historic theater in the next three months. Emagine s purchase of the theater, known for running arthouse films and blockbusters alike, gives the Troy-based chain ownership of both theaters in downtown Birmingham and a total of 15 screens. The company took over the Palladium, which is currently open, in 2015. Closed since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Birmingham 8 will be renamed Birmingham 8, Powered by Emagine. Paul Glantz, chairman of the company, said Emagine bought the business and signed a long-term lease at 211 S. Old Woodward Avenue with property owner Ted Fuller.
